Track your Trust Performance: Model Hospital now reflects BADS Directory 6th Edition
Day case compartment update
A
major update has been published in the Day Case compartment to
bring the Model Hospital in line with version 6 of the BADS
Directory of procedures. Data is now available for Q4 2019/20 for
all Trusts and allows users to explore their day case rates against
the new recommended rates, including a number of new procedures in
the handbook. We would like to thank BADS for all of their
assistance in helping us to get the methodology and data live over
the last few months. We are continuing to work on the emergency
procedure section and will be releasing data during our next
quarterly update in November 2019 when the next quarter of stable
HES data is available. General release notes are
below:
-
All
elective procedures
from
the BADS directory of procedures are now available to explore for
day case rates, conversion rates and bed saving opportunities to Q4
2019/20. The handbook can be purchased from BADS here:
/en/shop/directory/
-
Meta
data has been updated to include updated methodology including OPCS
codes for each procedure and some minor improvements to explain the
specialty and trust level metrics
-
Internal
processes to produce data have been optimised in order to provide
more timely updates in future. New quarterly data will be available
within a few days of NHS Digital releasing HES data (waiting for
third publication of the period to capture changes due to SUS+
freeze dates).
-
Emergency
procedures will be released with the Q1 2019/20
data
-
Future
developments include developing a new metric to look at missed
opportunities where a patient was planned as an IP overnight stay
but was treated and discharged with a zero-day
LoS.
