National Dataset (Calendar Year 2020)
The BADS Directory of
Procedures National Dataset is an annual collaboration between BADS
and CHKS.
As with previous editions
this up-dated version provides national outcomes for operations
listed in the BADS Directory of Procedures, which are divided into
three groups showing the 50th, 75th and 95th percentile
performance, meaning that the top 5%, 25% and 50% of hospital
trusts are achieving at least the cited proportion of these
operations as a day case procedure.
In addition, information
about potential day case opportunity is provided if the rate at
each percentile were applied to all England. This demonstrates the
significant gains for inpatient capacity, achieved by maximising
day surgery performance.
This collaborative
publication will be up-dated on an annual basis. Additional
educational resource to assist trusts and providers in improving
day surgery performance is available from the BADS website
(www.bads.co.uk).
